What started as a request to update BGE's existing QHEC catalog, quickly transformed into the development of a full-blown magazine once we realized the potential of presenting energy efficiency as a covetable lifestyle choice.
By elevating the catalog from product focused to lifestyle focused, we were able to show customers how beautifully simple and easy it is to incorporate energy efficiency into their everyday lives. It also serves as an advertisement for all of BGE’s programs in one place and presents them in an approachable way.
The magazine is meant to move the audience toward a new age way of living. As customers demand more from their homes and products, energy efficiency delivers “smart” baked in by design. It enables customers to live their best lives by delivering energy savings and environmental benefits packed into the latest technology.
The Efficient Home is a bi-annual magazine with the first issue released in Spring/Summer 2022, as well as a corresponding webpage launched around the same time.

There’s something special about the culture and people of Baltimore and its suburbs, from the textures of its neighborhoods to the character of its residents. It’s where everyone from dock workers and artists to med students and CEOs all feel a sense of pride in the region’s history, sports, flavors and DIY stick-to-itiveness. This concept embraces all that and presents energy efficiency in ways that resonate intrinsically with the locals who call Baltimore home.
