2022 CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health’s (OSH) Media Campaign Resource Center’s (MCRC) AdFest Event Materials — Poster, Catalog, Video Frames

AdFest is an annual, film-festival-like, event showcasing each of the anti-smoking campaigns added to the MCRC website each year. The event was put on pause in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the client wanted to get people excited for the 2022 event.

AdFest 2022 took place in New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz and the inspiration for the chosen design concept. Since AdFest is an annual event we wanted this year’s collateral to have its own distinct look and for it to feel as if it was a collectible festival poster. Using the bold visual motifs and graphic expression of action often see on Jazz posters and album artwork we were able to design something that evoked that New Orleans feeling, while still representing the MCRC and the media types featured at AdFest (digital display, social media, radio, video, print, and out-of-home).

The 2019 AdFest poster was inspired by the new MCRC logo and color palette launched in early 2019. The selected design features a megaphone, representing the important role the MCRC has in promoting, and supporting those who are promoting, an anti-smoking message throughout the country.
